FireTrigger Inc. just announced the production of a breadcrumb trail documentary called SCRATCHING THE SURFACE. The film is based on the journey of getting equipped to deal with, (and protect against) pornography in your community, family and your own life.
A crew follows director/producer Francois Driessen as he connects with key champions that are making an effective stand against pornography and everything that surrounds it. According to Driessen: "This doc peels back the layers of silence on a topic that has far more implications on our lives than I ever imagined before. Our people are truly killed due to a lack of knowledge". On the journey, Driessen is targeting topics such as physiological effects of pornography use, invisible addiction cycles, human trafficking, women & porn addiction, ministers stuck in porn and many more unexpected discoveries he made after the completion of WILLFUL ENTRAPMENT. "Not only does this create a startling image of the scope of the problem within the Christian community, but also provides the viewer with essential information to be equipped to take effective action by connecting the viewer to key champions on the battlefront against pornography on all the major topics. I'd like this to be a doorway that leads to all the rooms we need access to in order to deal with the bigger picture of pornography. And maybe even see some of the rooms get connected in the process."
One of the first steps is a rendezvous between Driessen's crew and at least 6 key champions at Covenant Eyes offices in Owosso, Michigan in February. They will do interviews as well as take the time to build support relationships between specialized fields they have been focused into. This is the first of many planned interview connections with many individuals, groups and ministries that are on the forefront of dealing with disfunction brought on by pornography.
"This is really something that sparked from WILLFUL ENTRAPMENT - which is exactly what we hoped the film would do. What is exciting is that this is happening even before the film's release." In Driessen's hopes, the film would act as catalyst to open discussions that allow people to stand together against the corrosion of a silently accepted sin and heal the damage that this brought onto people. "These people can really make a difference far beyond what the film in itself could. It is really action on belief that makes a difference."
Driessen is excited about the synergy that could occur between ministries and key individuals that are coming together to share resources. "We're one body and we all need each other. The sooner we realize that and start working as one, the sooner we'll see a dent in the (conservatively speaking) 40 million tragedies in process that occur every month."
SCRATCHING THE SURFACE has an unconventional release plan where complete segments will be streamed over the Internet as the documentary progresses. A final compiled piece will be released at the end of the production stream. The first cameras roll in February.
